Sunday, April, 22nd – Senseis Cimorose, Harris, Caldwell and Ragan from the Order of Isshin-Ryu (OI) attended a kenjutsu and jojutsu workout held by Sensei Andy Rodriguez of Newark, DE. The workout started off with kenjutsu drills and the rest of the class was focused on techniques using the jo (short staff).
When asked about the workout, Sensei Cimorose said, “It was a very enlightening class. I found that Sensei Rodriguez ran a very traditional, very consistent, and very respectful class. These are a few of the qualities it takes to run a successful and professional dojo.” He also found that the strikes with the jo and the bokken (wooden sword) to be strong and direct.
Sensei Cimorose also expressed that he was very proud of the OI black belts that attended the workout. They were able to pick up the techniques quite well due to their skills and the great teaching methods of Sensei Rodriguez. “A big thank you to Sensei Rodriguez and his instructors for giving us a wonderful opportunity to expand our knowledge base!”
